History

Al Piantadosi (1882–1955) was a successful pianist and popular song composer in the heyday of "tin pan alley" (1900–1930). The Curse of an Aching Heart (1913) was his most popular composition. His publishing company started in about 1910 in New York. In 1918 he and his brother, George, founded Al. Piantadosi & Company, Inc., based in Chicago but it went bankrupt in 1920. Frank Goodman, an employee, took over the company.
