History

Sylvain Saint-Etienne (1807-80) operated his eponymous publishing company from 1852 to 1872. He acquired Louis Boieldieu in 1852, but sold it to Boisselot in 1856. He bought Aulagnier in 1866. Saint-Etienne was also a librettist (Christophe Colomb (David, Félicien), 1847) and a publisher of fashion magazines.
